Erasmus+ Project KA2 “EASY TO DO”

On 1 March 2024, in collaboration with the organization “Association of People with Disabilities and Their Friends “APEIRONS”, we launched the Erasmus+ project “EASY TO DO”.

The project’s goal is to develop a new service for young people with disabilities, which will be provided by young youth workers under the age of 30. These workers will serve as support/trusted persons for young people with disabilities in various activities outside the home.

The project will be implemented in the capitals of Sweden and Latvia. To achieve the project’s goals, the following tasks will be undertaken:

  • Collaborating with new youth workers and young people with disabilities to conduct participatory research on the needs, limitations, and solutions for young people with disabilities;
  • Based on the research results, developing a training program for new youth workers, enabling them to become support/trusted persons for young people with disabilities and engage them in various activities outside the home;
  • Training 20 new youth workers according to the developed training program;
  • Piloting the service by allowing the 20 trained youth workers to support 16 young people with disabilities in different activities.

The direct outcome of the project will be 20 new youth workers trained to work with young people with disabilities as their support/trusted persons.

Project duration: 01.03.2024 – 28.02.2026.

Partner organization: Association of People with Disabilities and Their Friends “APEIRONS”, Latvia.

The “Easy to do” project’s long-term goal is to develop a systematic approach to involving buddies/support persons in youth work, while promoting equal opportunities and an inclusive society. The trained buddies will serve as a bridge between young people with disabilities and society at large.

What does the pilot phase involve? Practical activities outside the home where buddies spend time with and support young people with disabilities. It promotes social engagement and inclusion, especially for those who have limited opportunities in everyday life.

This pilot phase is important because it makes it possible to test the practical implementation of the new potential service in real-life situations, adapt the support to individual needs, and ensure high-quality collaboration between buddies and young people with disabilities. It is an opportunity to strengthen young people’s independence and promote their participation in community life.
